Root Barrier Houston

Questions we get before the trench

Depth, trees, HOA letters, laterals, bamboo lips, and when we will not cut.

How deep is a Houston root barrier?

Parkway walks are often 24–36 inches. Foundation and lateral jobs go deeper. We measure the plate; we do not guess from a catalog.

Will the tree die?

A healthy oak or pecan isolated on one side stays. We will not girdle a tree to save a sidewalk.

Do you grind sidewalks?

Grinding is a season. Barrier is a wall. We can grind as a temporary; we would rather isolate so you are not grinding again in two summers.

Do you cover Katy, Sugar Land, and The Woodlands?

Yes — plus Cypress, Pearland, the Heights, Memorial, Clear Lake, Conroe, Galveston, and the rest of the metro listed on service areas.

Are you a plumber or a foundation company?

No. If the pipe is collapsed or the slab needs piers, we say so. Barrier isolates the tree from the structure.

How do I book?

Call (832) 632-4266 or send the form. We come to the property.

Do you have Google reviews?

When our Google Business Profile has live reviews, we will point to them. We do not publish made-up star ratings.

Do you have a shop I visit?

No. We are a mobile crew. We trench on your lot across Greater Houston.

Root Barrier Installation

How deep do you install a root barrier in Houston?

Most HOA parkways take 24 to 36 inches. Specimen oaks at a slab and acreage laterals often go deeper. We measure the root plate; we do not guess from a brochure.

Will the tree die?

Not if the tree is a healthy oak or pecan and we are cutting on one side. We are redirecting new growth, not girdling the tree. A tree that is already failing gets a different conversation.

How long does a typical install take?

A single parkway run is often a day. A full foundation ring or a bamboo perimeter is longer. We tell you the window when we walk the lot.

Foundation Root Barrier

Can roots crack a Houston slab by themselves?

They can lift edges and steal moisture from clay. Most Houston slab stories are clay plus water plus a tree. We isolate the tree. A structural engineer still owns the slab conversation if the house is moving.

Do you work with foundation companies?

Yes. Isolation is a good detail after piers. We will not sell barrier as a substitute for underpinning.

How close is too close?

A specimen live oak inside about 10 feet of a slab is a design problem. Barrier still helps. Sometimes the honest answer includes pruning, irrigation changes, or — rarely — removal.

Sidewalk & Driveway Root Barrier

Should I replace the sidewalk too?

If the panel is already a trip, yes — replace or grind, then barrier so the next panel is not a trip. Barrier under a still-flat walk is the cheaper day.

Will the HOA approve this?

Most Houston HOAs approve isolation plus restoration. We write the scope so the ACC sees a finished parkway, not an open trench.

Do you grind?

We can grind as a temporary. We would rather install barrier so you are not grinding again in two summers.

Sewer Line Root Barrier

Can a barrier replace hydro-jetting?

No. Existing roots in the pipe still need a plumber. Barrier stops the next crop.

Will you camera the line?

If you have a recent camera, bring it. We can work with your plumber’s video. We do not sell lining.

Old iron or new PVC?

Both. Iron and clay invite roots at every joint. PVC fails at the gaskets if a pecan is sitting on the run.

Tree Root Barrier Systems

Do you remove trees?

Rarely. We install barrier so you can keep them. A dead or failing tree is an arborist job.

What about protected oaks?

West U, Bellaire, some villages, Lake Jackson canopy streets — we design around keeping the tree. That is the work.

Bamboo is not a tree.

Correct. That is a different page and a different liner.

Bamboo Barrier Installation

Can I just spray it?

You can. It will come back from the next yard. Barrier is for people who are keeping some bamboo and not all of it.

How deep?

Rhizomes are shallow. The lip is the detail people skip. We do both.

Will the neighbor have to agree?

If it is already across the line, yes, or you contain only your side and keep inspecting.

Commercial Root Barrier

Can you work nights?

Yes, on commercial pads. Say so when you book.

Do you mill asphalt?

We isolate. We can coordinate a paving contractor. We do not pretend to be a paving company.

HOA common area or city?

Both. Scopes differ. We write them separately.

Root Pruning & Barrier

Is this arborist work?

It is both. We do the trench and panel. A consulting arborist is a good idea on a specimen oak. We will say when.

Best season?

Avoid a hard prune at the peak of a Houston drought. We will reschedule rather than stress a tree into decline.

Will I see surface roots again?

On the tree side, yes — that is the tree living. On the walk side, that is what the panel is for.

Pool & Hardscape Root Barrier

Can you save the tree and the deck?

Usually. That is the job. A tree inside the bond beam is a different conversation.

Paver patio or poured deck?

Both. Pavers can be lifted and reset after isolation. Poured decks need the crack conversation first.

Saltwater pools?

Irrelevant to the soil side. The tree still wants the irrigation overspray.

Landscape Bed Root Barrier

Is this the same as metal edging?

No. Edging is a mow line. Barrier is a soil wall.

Can I do this before a landscape install?

That is the right order.

Will the oak still take water from the bed?

Less. Not zero. Oaks are good at their job.

HDPE Root Barrier Panels

Do you use chemical barrier fabric?

Not as a substitute for a wall. Fabric has a place in some beds. Houston walks and slabs get HDPE.

What brand?

Commercial HDPE panel. We will name the mill on the quote. We do not wrap a commodity sheet in a mystery label.

Can I buy panels and DIY?

You can. Most callbacks we see are joints and depth. Hire us for the trench if the tree is next to a house.

Utility & Infrastructure Root Barrier

Do you call 811?

Always.

What if the easement is full?

Then the honest answer may be a shallower run, a different alignment, or no trench. We will not cut a marked line.

HOA drainage swale?

We will not install a dam. Drainage stays drainage.

Root Barrier Inspection

Is the inspection credited?

Ask when you book. We are not a $0-to-bait shop. The visit is real work.

Can you meet the HOA manager?

Yes, on commercial and common-area jobs.

Same-week?

Often. Storm weeks and August clay soup change that.

Root Barrier Repair & Replacement

Can you reuse old panel?

If it is still flexible, jointed, and deep enough — sometimes. Gulf-sun brittle sheet is trash.

Who installed the old one?

Often a landscaper with edging. We are not here to argue with them. We are here to isolate the tree.

Warranty on your work?

We warranty our joints and our depth against workmanship. We cannot warranty a tree into not growing. Details are on the quote.

Houston clay · Gulf irrigation · a wall in the soil

Keep the tree. Stop the heave.
